Notebook chat is where you ask questions, test your understanding, and create outputs from your sources.
How chat uses sources
When your question depends on the notebook, Kryptonote should read the relevant sources before answering. This helps keep responses grounded in the material you added.
You can ask broad questions like "what is this notebook about?", but specific questions usually get better answers.
Threads
A notebook can have multiple chat threads. Use separate threads for separate goals, such as exam revision, document drafting, or exploring one source in depth.
Thread titles may be generated automatically after the conversation starts. You can create new threads whenever you want a clean context.
Models and thinking
Smaller models are faster and cheaper. Larger models are better for difficult reasoning, long source work, and tool-heavy tasks.
Thinking mode gives the model more room to work through harder requests. Use it for comparison, synthesis, planning, document creation, and anything where correctness matters more than speed.
Presets
Chat includes study presets:
- Grill Me: asks one question at a time and pushes your understanding.
- Teach Me: teaches from the sources at your level.
- TL;DR: gives a concise summary.
- Analogy: explains ideas with comparisons that make the concept easier to hold.
Generated outputs
Chat can create files, visualisations, study guides, tables, diagrams, and Word documents. When it creates a downloadable file, it should show a download card in the conversation.
