Kryptonote can use the live web when your notebook sources are missing something, when you ask for current information, or when a web page would help answer the question.
Notebook sources still come first
For notebook questions, Kryptonote should use your sources before searching the web. Web access is there to fill gaps, check current facts, or bring in external context when you ask for it.
Web access modes
You may see controls for how web access behaves:
- Auto: Kryptonote asks before using web search or reading a page.
- Disabled: Kryptonote answers from notebook sources and existing knowledge only.
- Always: Kryptonote can use web access for the response without asking each time.
Web searches
A web search finds relevant results and saves a temporary search note in the workspace. The AI can inspect that note while answering.
Use web search for current information, unfamiliar terms not covered by your sources, or external comparisons.
Reading a web page
If you provide a URL, Kryptonote may read that exact page if web access is allowed. Some pages cannot be accessed because of logins, paywalls, terms, or technical restrictions.
Web sources vs web access
Adding a URL as a source saves that page into the notebook. Web access during chat is temporary unless you explicitly ask to turn a result or generated file into a notebook source.
