How scheduled tasks work

A scheduled task has an instruction, workspace, and schedule. When it is due, Kryptonote starts a new agent run with that workspace's memory and files. You choose the model for each task, so it does not have to use your chat default.

Scheduled tasks are available on Pro. A workspace can keep up to 10 tasks active at once. Inactive tasks remain saved but do not run.

Schedules

Tasks can run once, every day, or on selected weekdays. You can set an end date for a repeating task. Kryptonote uses the task's chosen time zone and adjusts for daylight saving time.

Capabilities

Each task has its own permissions. Web access is off by default. Turn it on when the task needs current information. You can separately allow subagents, file changes, file deletion, and image generation.

Each successful web search or page fetch costs at least one credit from the same monthly balance. Leave capabilities off when the task only needs workspace files or existing context.

Usage and limits

Scheduled runs use the same monthly credit balance as conversations. Scheduling a task is free. You use credits only when it runs. Kryptonote totals model usage when the run ends and rounds up once to the next whole credit, with a minimum charge of one credit per run.

Every task has a credit limit and time limit for each run. The run stops when it reaches either limit, even if work remains. If one run cannot start, its history shows the failure. Later runs still start on schedule.

Check the first few runs before increasing a task's frequency or limits. Its history shows how many credits each run used.

Stay in control

Review the instruction, workspace, schedule, model, and capabilities before activating a task. Write the instruction so the agent can complete it without relying on an unanswered question.

  • Pause a task to keep its configuration without starting new runs.
  • Run a task immediately at any time to test it.
  • Review each run's result, duration, and credit charge in its history.
  • Delete tasks that are no longer needed.

An agent can create and manage tasks for its workspace after you approve each change in Chat. The Analytics page shows tokens, run time, and charges for the workspace's scheduled runs.

Scheduled agents can work while you are away. Review important outputs before relying on them, especially when a task uses changing information from the web.
